Over 35 years ago, Plain & Fancy founder John Achey’s hobby was
making cabinets... handcrafted, hand rubbed, extraordinarily handsome
cabinets. The kind he’d be proud to have in his own home.
In 1968, his “hobby” turned into the pursuit of a dream when John, his
wife, Loretta, and just four “employees” – their kids – began building
cabinetry in their Richland, Pennsylvania garage. One of America’s most
sought after custom cabinetry brands was born. It was named, quite simply,
for the cabinets they made... plain ones and fancy ones.
Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry stands for quality workmanship well
within your reach. Each cabinet is built with the homeowner’s choice of two
time-tested methods: framed, mortise and tenon construction with dovetail
drawers or full access (frameless) dowel construction, called Medley, also
with dovetail drawers. Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry stands for
quality workmanship at a surprisingly affordable price.
Both custom and semi-custom cabinetry are offered by
Plain & Fancy Custom Cabinetry in order to meet the budget of every
home.
Plain & Fancy’s standard and custom hand rubbed finishes are
available with either style of cabinetry. Plain & Fancy carries no
inventory; each kitchen is built to the homeowner’s specifications from wood
species to door style.
